Position Summary: This role involves the application of pesticides to support landscape maintenance and construction activities. The Pest Control Operator will supervise staff, assist in tasks, and exemplify a strong work ethic and positive attitude. Knowledge of safe pesticide handling and application in compliance with California regulations is essential.

Key Responsibilities: To excel in this position, the individual must effectively perform the following duties:

  1. Plan, organize, and execute specific job tasks on-site efficiently.
  2. Collaborate well within a team and maintain a courteous demeanor with clients.
  3. Identify target pests accurately, calibrate equipment, and apply pesticides as per recommended guidelines.
  4. Complete daily spray reports for accuracy and submit them to the immediate supervisor weekly.
  5. Oversee and instruct staff on safe pesticide application, including conducting annual training as mandated by state regulations.
  6. Maintain accurate records of hours worked, job billing, and other reports, ensuring timely submission.
  7. Perform routine maintenance on assigned equipment and vehicles, reporting any issues to management.
  8. Ensure a clean chemical storage area and proper disposal of empty containers.
  9. Adhere to all safety protocols as outlined in the employee manual and by equipment manufacturers.
  10. Utilize materials as specified in the landscape pesticide application program.
  11. Review work schedules to request necessary products.
  12. Maintain a company planner for scheduling purposes.
  13. Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  14. Work five consecutive 8-hour days, with availability for overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements: The following physical capabilities are necessary for this role:

  1. Ability to lift and carry 20-50 pounds of materials and equipment regularly.
  2. Occasional lifting of a 30-pound blower.
  3. Capability to operate all power equipment independently.
  4. Frequent walking, standing, squatting, and kneeling.
  5. Repetitive movements with hands, wrists, and legs.
  6. Ability to twist and bend frequently.
  7. Occasional lifting of a 40-pound backpack sprayer.

Additional Responsibilities: Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: Strong interpersonal skills are essential for effective communication with clients, colleagues, and management. Proficiency in reading and writing English is required. A valid California driver's license with an acceptable driving record is necessary. Candidates must be licensed Qualified Applicators and participate in continuing education to maintain their licenses. A degree in agriculture or at least one year of practical experience as a licensed Qualified Applicator is preferred.

Working Conditions: This position involves outdoor physical labor in varying temperatures and weather conditions. Flexibility in work hours is required, as tasks may need to be performed during off-peak hours, including nights and weekends. Exposure to dust, chemicals, and noise is common in this role.
