Sample Processing Specialist

Job Summary

The Sample Processing Technician plays a critical role in analytical food testing, delivering customer analysis requests with attention to detail and data entry skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the laboratory department by receiving analysis requests, interpreting as needed, and entering data.
  • Receive, register, and prepare samples for general analytical testing through data entry.
  • Function as the primary data generator, record, and calculate data.
  • Interpret customer requests and perform receiving and computer 'log-in' functions.
  • Execute laboratory sample service requests and processing steps:
    • Weighs, blends samples for laboratory analysis.
    • Accurately records results of sample processing, making sure to keep identification numbers matched with correct samples.
    • Acid washes glassware and specially cleans other equipment and areas as required; supports in keeping area clean and orderly.
  • Processes/Methods:
    • Identify and resolve process and workflow problems.
    • Assist in write-up, review, and provide proper documentation for processes or methods.
  • Training:
    • Attend internal and external training programs as assigned by management.
    • On-the-job instruction under direct supervision of other technicians or scientists.
    • Training other associates as experience and job needs dictate.
Work Environment

This person will be working behind a computer and in the lab, but will not be doing any actual testing in the lab. Schedule: T-S First Shift. During training, it will be the same shift but M-F (for 4-6 weeks).
