Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will provide routine nursing care to residents or patients, assume charge responsibilities with minimal supervision, and perform higher-level technical nursing tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain equipment used in patient care
  • Administer and document medications
  • Perform or assist with treatments and procedures
  • Teach and/or assist with patient and family health care teaching
  • Record vital signs and weights
  • Administer internal feedings
  • Monitor patient conditions and document accordingly
  • Inform nurse in charge of care provided and patient status
  • Report incidents to nurse in charge
  • Develop and maintain interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, and hospital personnel
  • Perform charge duties as directed
  • Provide for patient safety and comfort
  • Perform tasks assigned to a Hospital/Institutional Aide
  • Transport patients in acute and long-term care facilities
  • Participate in In-service education
Additional Responsibilities for Erie County Long-Term Care Facility
  • Maintain communication and report changes in resident condition to supervising Registered Nurse
  • Administer and document medications, including IV infusions and IV medications
  • Perform EKG testing, pulse oximetry testing, and phlebotomy
Requirements
  • Completion of a course of study in a registered School of Practical Nursing approved by the New York State Education Department
  • Possession of a license and current registration to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse as issued by the New York State Education Department at time of appointment and maintenance throughout duration of appointment
  • Possession of Basic Life Support (BLS) from an approved ECMCC provider at time of appointment and maintenance throughout duration of appointment
  • Possession of a valid New York State Driver's license and use of a private automobile at time of appointment and maintenance throughout duration of appointment
