Position Summary:

The Senior Buyer is tasked with the procurement and negotiation of materials, equipment, services, and supplies from various suppliers. This role supports different departments in assessing goods and services, ensuring that the expectations and requirements of internal clients are met while resolving any conflicts related to materials or services. The position requires familiarity with standard procurement concepts and practices, relying on experience and judgment to achieve objectives and perform a variety of tasks with a degree of creativity and independence. Attention to detail is paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to corporate procurement policies and guidelines.
  • Sourcing: Assist in developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives through market research, supplier identification, and negotiation to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms while upholding quality standards.
  • Supplier Management: Identify and engage potential suppliers, fostering strong relationships and negotiating advantageous terms and conditions.
  • Market Analysis: Stay updated on market trends, pricing changes, and geopolitical factors impacting the rare earth supply chain, proactively addressing potential disruptions.
  • Cost Management: Strive to minimize procurement costs through effective negotiation, supplier assessment, and cost analysis, identifying opportunities for savings and efficiency enhancements.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with operations and quality teams to ensure that procured materials meet established standards and specifications.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards while identifying and mitigating supply chain risks.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with departments such as production, engineering, and finance to align procurement strategies with organizational goals.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Integrate sustainability and environmental considerations into procurement decisions, supporting the company’s commitment to responsible practices.
  • Technology Utilization: Use procurement and supply chain technology tools (e.g., SAP) to enhance processes, improve data accuracy, and support decision-making.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing procurement efficiency, reducing costs, and improving overall supply chain effectiveness.
  • Ethical Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities meet ethical standards and legal requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP is highly desirable.
  • Background in industrial, mining, or chemical processing environments is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience (4 years) with a minimum of 5 years in a relevant role.

Specialized Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the rare earth market, including supply-demand dynamics and pricing trends.
  • Familiarity with mining industry challenges and regulations, including sustainability practices.
  • Strong supplier relationship management skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Proficiency in supply chain risk management.
  • Expertise in cost analysis and reduction strategies.
  • Data analytics skills for informed decision-making and process optimization.
  • Strong contract negotiation capabilities.
  • Project management skills for overseeing procurement initiatives.
  • Experience with SAP for efficient procurement and inventory management.

Compensation: The expected salary range for this position is $75,000 - $80,000, with actual compensation varying based on experience, knowledge, skills, and location.
