Position Overview
The Pediatric Primary Care Physician is responsible for evaluating, treating, and managing both sick and well patients, documenting medical findings in the electronic health record, and collaborating with office staff and nursing teams.
We seek a Board Certified Pediatrician to serve in a community pediatric primary care setting, providing care to patients from birth to 18 years. Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating various conditions, conducting well and sick visits, counseling on vaccinations, and ordering necessary labs and tests. Participation in on-call rotation and coverage for evenings and weekends is required. Familiarity with electronic medical records is essential. Continuing Medical Education (CME) is mandatory, and a valid medical license in Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey is required.
The Pediatric Primary Care Physicians at CHOP support the institution's mission by striving to lead in pediatric healthcare advancement through exceptional patient care, innovative research, and quality education, particularly for children in underserved urban areas facing social and economic challenges. Responsibilities encompass both clinical and administrative duties, providing preventive and acute care to patients and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Duties:
- Supervise clinical providers, including resident physicians and nurse practitioners, ensuring high-quality clinical services.
- Deliver direct patient care to a designated panel of patients.
- Stay updated on pediatric care standards and collaborate with leadership to implement necessary changes.
- Respond to clinical alerts from public health officials and lead the response in Primary Care.
- Educational Responsibilities:
- Support and lead resident and medical student education initiatives in collaboration with the Primary Care education director.
- Research Involvement:
- Lead and support research activities within Primary Care, collaborating with the Practice Based Research Network (PBRN).
- Oversee ongoing research initiatives and provide guidance throughout the research process.
- Administrative Duties:
- Assist in managing practice operations, including leadership of the administrative team.
- Evaluate patient access, flow, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and requirements.
- Participate in budgeting, performance monitoring, and facilities management.
- Represent Primary Care in collaborative efforts with other healthcare professionals and departments.

- Medical Board Certification - Pediatrics
- DEA License
- Doctorate (Medical) from an accredited Medical School and completion of a Pediatric Residency Program.
- Management or supervisory experience in an ambulatory care setting.
- Experience with fiscal and human resource management.
- Understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance.
- Proficiency in computer systems and applications.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships with staff, patients, and the community.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and electronic).
