Institutional Nursing Specialist

About Our Agency: The State of South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (SCDDSN) serves individuals with severe, lifelong disabilities. We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Whitten Regional Center in Clinton, SC.
Job Summary: As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will provide daily nursing care, training, activities, and treatment to residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Salary and Benefits: This position offers a competitive salary range of $52,000 - $57,396 per year, based on verified work-related nursing experience. Eligible employees may also participate in our comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan options, and paid vacation and sick leave.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer routine medications and treatments in accordance with nursing protocol and facility policies.
- Monitor residents' health conditions and report findings to medical providers and staff.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary living environment.
- Ensure accountability and protection from harm for all residents through thorough documentation.
- Review monthly medication administration records and complete healthcare records as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, including participating in on-call rotation.
Requirements:
- Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.
- Successful completion of a registered nursing education program or an equivalent course of study.
- Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and maintain accurate medical documentation.
- Physical ability to work with residents who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile.
