Mechanical Design Engineer

At Melton Machine & Control Company, we are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing custom weld fixtures and/or machines, interacting with customers, and managing large and small programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design weld fixtures and/or machines using Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault.
  • Collaborate with Controls Engineering on the design of controls systems.
  • Support manufacturing during the fabrication and assembly process.
  • Assist with the creation of shipping and manual documentation.
  • Troubleshoot issues on or offsite throughout the life of the design.
  • Assist application engineering with new opportunities.
  • Participate in department and companywide continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Proficient with 3D CAD software, with experience in Autodesk Inventor and Vault a plus.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and ability to conceptualize new machine and fixture designs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, team members, and management.
  • Ability to travel occasionally and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T and familiarity with Safety Codes, ANSI B11, OSHA, and Industry Accepted Guarding practices a plus.
  • Basic understanding of GMA Welding a plus.
