Job Description:

Volt Management Corp. is seeking a remote Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer with a client located in Bellevue, Washington. Our client is a world leader in new nuclear technologies for hybrid energy and medical applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create structural and mechanical design solutions, 3D CAD models, and engineering drawings for the conceptual and preliminary design development of the MCFR program.
  • Utilize inputs and requirements from Engineering and Project teams to produce equipment and components design solutions.
  • Provide planning and schedule input for design activities.
  • Develop testing documentation.
  • Perform scoping analysis and calculations for design options.
  • Interface with the team's engineering analysis activities.
  • Presentation of equipment and components design results for design reviews.
  • Interface with junior engineers and subcontractors, providing direction and mentoring.

Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of equipment / component design experience; relevant M.S. and Doctorate degrees may be credited for up to two and four years of experience.
  • Experience with 3D CAD, SolidWorks preferred.
  • Experience or familiarity with the rules of ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code Section III Division 5.
  • Previous experience in the nuclear industry.
  • Experience with design for Flow Induced Vibration (FIV) or working under a Comprehensive Vibration Assessment Program (CVAP).
  • Experience with writing design specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in seismic analysis of equipment or components; in particular, experience with response spectrum and time history modeling techniques in accordance with the requirements of ASCE 4, ASCE 7, and/or ASCE 43 is highly desirable.
