Job Summary

Central Maine Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Educator RN to join our team. As a Clinical Educator RN, you will be responsible for developing and implementing educational programs for nurses, students, and other staff in specified clinical areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and facilitate the orientation and onboarding of new hires.
  • Develop, implement, and revise programs that enhance cost effectiveness and quality patient care.
  • Participate in identifying the learning needs of nursing staff.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and leadership team regarding educational needs and offerings.
  • Assess, plan, and implement programs for staff development to advance and maintain knowledge, critical thinking, and skills competency.
  • Develop relationships with local colleges and universities.
  • Plan and coordinate conferences and seminars.
  • Design and develop new patient equipment instructional materials; demonstrate use to staff.
  • Conduct classes and/or provide individual instructions/recommendations for identified learning deficiencies.
  • Supervise preceptor program house-wide as needed: resource for preceptors and students on the units.
  • Makes recommendations and implements updates and changes to current clinical competencies and educational programs based on best practice and research recommendations.
  • Evaluate and maintain initial and ongoing competency validations in compliance with JCAHO and CMS standards.
  • Assist EMS Region with pre-hospital EMS providers education, QI, and interface with the Emergency Department.
  • Assist CMCH family hospitals/practices and those hospital and EMS services within the Tri-County EMS region.
  • Perform administrative duties as needed: management reports; Learning Management System for competency records.
  • Evaluate and document staff performance of clinical skills, enhancing clinical competency.
  • Serve as a nurse planner to provide contact hours for appropriate CE and CME educational opportunities.
  • Provide expert clinical bedside consultation to staff.
  • Treat patients and families with respect and dignity; ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
  • Follow the five rights of medication administration and reduce the risk for potential medication errors.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be flexible and organized.
  • Studies current trends, new technologies/development, teaching methodologies through professional journals, seminars/conferences, professional associations, etc.
  • Customer Service: Interact with all individuals in a consistent manner, providing attention, support, and assistance to foster an environment of exceptional personal service.
Requirements
  • Current State of Maine Registered Nurse license or other appropriate license.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant acute care experience.
  • 2 years clinical educator experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider ACLS, PALS, and BLS Certification required; Instructor status certifications preferred.
