Facility Maintenance Specialist

The Facility Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of the facility grounds, equipment, and buildings at Tech Ord. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities- Grounds Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks to include operation of grass and snow handling equipment, ensuring the facility grounds are well-maintained and safe for employees and visitors.
- Vehicle Operations: Drive company vehicles as needed, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Building Maintenance: Maintain buildings, perform minor and routine painting, filter changes, light bulb changes, replaces doors and hardware, and perform other related maintenance activities.
- Machinery Maintenance: Complete routine maintenance of tractors, skid-steers, and ground maintenance equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Air Compressor Maintenance: Operate and perform general maintenance of all air compressors, ensuring they are functioning properly.
- Filter Changes: Change all air makeup filters as necessary based on production buildings' needs.
- Cleaning and Sanitation: Assist in cleaning the administration building, including vacuuming, scrubbing floors, toilets, sinks, and mirrors.
- Supply Chain Management: Pick up parts or supplies from vendors in the local area.
- Snow Removal: Shovel and plow snow around all buildings and in parking areas.
- Waste Management: Maintain all trash and paper recycling programs.
- Record Keeping: Assist in maintaining records for several different monthly, semiannual, and annual maintenance checks.
- Static Grounding Checks: Help perform static grounding checks as scheduled for all production buildings.
- Minor Repairs: Perform minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC repairs.
- Environmental Management: Responsible for maintenance activities at the facility that could generate hazardous waste and other environmental management responsibilities.
- Additional Duties: Perform other work duties as assigned by management.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency: Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States (ITAR restrictions).
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age to work at this facility.
- Explosives Clearance: Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for all employees of Tech Ord.
- Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. One to three months related experience and/or training is preferred.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate and document effectively in English.
- Function Specific Training: Function Specific RCRA training upon hire.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with other employees as part of a team.
- Multi-Tasking: Ability to multi-task in support of end-result/goal.

While performing the duties of this job:
- Ability to talk and hear in order to communicate with others.
- Continuously required to stand and/or walk both indoors and outdoors.
- Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel as well as reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to bend, squat, and kneel to perform maintenance functions.
- Lifting of 10 pounds is required. Must be able to move materials by lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds and greater than 50 pounds with assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus when viewing a computer monitor.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives.
- Ear protection is required as identified throughout the facility.
- Where required, employees must wear a minimum of 50% cotton clothing, including undergarments, to mitigate electrostatic discharge (ESD). Employees must also wear company-issued safety footwear. Tech Ord is an EEO employer, including Disability/Vet.
