Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Health Counselor to join our team at Trinity Health. As a Project SUCCESS Counselor, you will work with the Ann Arbor Public Schools to implement evidence-based programming and strategies that target risk and protective factors associated with youth substance abuse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pre-assessment and referral information to students and parents affected by alcohol/drug use.
  • Conduct early intervention/insight programs for students experimenting with alcohol/drug use or suspended for alcohol/drug use.
  • Consult with school staff on how to identify, assess, motivate, and refer high-risk students.
  • Coordinate referrals to mental health, substance use disorder treatment programs, and other community services.
  • Conduct specialized individual and group counseling for high-risk students.
  • Work collaboratively with the school and community to bridge the gap between community and school services.
  • Maintain program records and files, compile data, and prepare reports as needed.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field.
  • LMSW, LPC, LLP - State of Michigan preferred.
  • MCBAP Prevention Certification preferred; developmental plan must be on file with MCBAP within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong community outreach, organizing, and engagement skills.
  • Proven track record in community organizing and mobilization, including education and volunteer experiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of prevention and substance use disorders.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in substance abuse/mental health counseling.
  • Experience working with the adolescent population.
  • Experience working in a school setting.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
