Job Summary

Phoenix Metals is seeking a skilled Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our team in Fort Smith, AR. As a key member of our Plant family, you will be responsible for providing daily support of onsite operational and maintenance issues involving installation, troubleshooting, and repair of facilities infrastructure and production and material handling equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine diagnostic tests, evaluate equipment performance, clean and lubricate machinery, and perform minor maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist with assembly, installation, repairs, and maintenance of wiring, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and vacuum tube systems.
  • Assist in dismantling equipment and removing parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
  • Assist in reassembling of equipment after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
  • Assist in starting up equipment and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
  • Inspect damaged equipment parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisor of repair needs.
  • Assist in installation and replacement of machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance programs to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Safely operate motorized repair and material handling equipment.
  • Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
  • Read maintenance repair work orders and specifications to determine machine and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Order, track, and inventory parts, occasionally driving company motor vehicle (non-DOT) for local pick-up, when required.
  • Collaborate with other workers to move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
  • Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
Requirements
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
  • High School diploma/GED preferred.
  • Must possess a Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to meet current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) quality criteria as defined by Federal regulations and/or company policy required.
  • Tradeschool certification in electrical, HVAC, and/or plumbing preferred.
  • Technical aptitude and basic knowledge of mechanics required.
  • Working knowledge of electromechanical systems, troubleshooting, and equipment repair required.
  • Ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations required.
  • Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly required.
  • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions required.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, and judgment required.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors and co-workers required.
Work Environment

Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Warehouse/Field setting; minimal temperature environment.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7a-4p.
