About the Job
The Senior Financial Analyst and Leader will be responsible for coordinating accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashiering, payroll, and capital construction. You will ensure that accounting functions are accomplished in an accurate and expeditious manner and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, SBCCOE and State Fiscal Rules and Policies, federal and state regulations, and institutional policies and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashiering, payroll, and capital construction.
- Ensure that accounting functions are accomplished in an accurate and expeditious manner and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, SBCCOE and State Fiscal Rules and Policies, federal and state regulations, and institutional policies and requirements.
- Conduct reconciliations, make adjustments, and analyze accounts.
- Prepare and analyze periodic financial statements and perform year-end closing of financial records.
- Implement recommendations brought about as a result of the independent financial audit.
- Ensure grants and contracts are properly accounted for and reported as required.
- Develop, implement, and modify internal accounting systems and records to meet the needs of the college.
- Provide fiscal guidance and support to other departments within the college and throughout the service area.
- Supervise all accountant and accounting technician positions.
- Ensure proper and adequate internal controls and effective audit trails are maintained.
- Prepare financial data surveys and reports as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or other closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience gained through increasingly responsible management and/or leadership/supervisory positions within accounting or finance.
- Strong working knowledge of automated integrated accounting systems and advanced spreadsheet experience.
- Well-developed financial analysis capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to build productive teams.
- Demonstrated visionary leadership, supervision, management, decision making, time management, goal setting, and organizational skills and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or other closely related field.
- Certified Public Accountant.
- Experience in governmental accounting and higher education accounting.
- Experience in State of Colorado government accounting system (CORE) or Banner.
- Experience preparing and/or reviewing federal and state grant reporting.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is estimated to be between $69,200 to $92,805, depending on education, skills, and experience. The selected qualified candidate is eligible for a $10,000 new hire sign-on incentive within the first 60 days of employment, subject to the rules and requirements of the MCC New Hire Sign-On Incentive Protocol. Benefits include health, life, dental, and vision insurance, LTD & benefit package, including tuition reimbursement in accordance with Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System policies.
