This role entails overseeing the comprehensive operations within the designated pharmacy department. The Pharmacy Manager is pivotal in enhancing prescription volume and patient engagement by fostering outstanding customer service and a professional reputation within the community. Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Health Wellness Home, Store Operations, and Perishables
Supervises: Staff Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Intake/Outbound Coordinator

Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain a positive work environment that promotes friendliness and teamwork.
- Oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy department.
- Enhance pharmacy sales, profitability, patient engagement, and professional reputation by ensuring accurate prescription filling and exceptional customer service.
- Supervise pharmacy personnel to ensure effective training, orientation, and development, while fostering employee morale and loyalty.
- Manage referrals from Hy-Vee retail pharmacy locations and coordinate with pharmacists as necessary.
- Develop and implement sales and promotional strategies for the pharmacy department.
- Handle recruitment and hiring of pharmacy staff, manage payroll budgets, and optimize scheduling to minimize overtime.
- Analyze and recommend loss prevention strategies and ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and audits to maintain security and compliance with pharmacy regulations.
- Train pharmacy staff on the pharmacy point of sale system and assist with any related issues.
- Monitor competitive services and suggest enhancements to company programs.
- Review department policies and procedures to ensure adherence to federal and state regulations.
- Ensure compliance with DEA and state Board of Pharmacy requirements regarding record maintenance.
- Conduct audits to verify proper record-keeping and compliance.
- Prepare necessary reports for company and regulatory authorities as required.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels based on prescription volume and ensure a satisfactory supply balance.
- Uphold department cleanliness and appearance standards.
- Address customer complaints related to pharmacy operations.
- Represent the company in professional pharmaceutical organizations.
- Set product pricing to ensure departmental profitability.
- Promote growth and sales through customer consultations on OTC medications.
- Adhere to scheduled work hours and responsibilities.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Oversee nursing home accounts and medication deliveries.
- Assist in other store areas as needed.
- Perform additional job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities, particularly in healthcare settings.
- Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy software applications and systems.
- Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy School, preferably with a Pharm. D. degree.
- Current Board of Pharmacy license.
- Relevant experience in pharmacy operations and computer applications.
- Minimum of one year of related work experience.

Supervisory Duties:
- Responsible for instructing, reviewing, and planning the work of pharmacy staff.
- Authority to recommend employee transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions.

Work Environment:
- Typically conducted in a pharmacy setting with frequent standing and walking.

Equipment Utilized:
- PC with pharmacy software, pharmacy balance, scanner, calculator, telephone, fax, and copier.

Confidentiality:
- Access to confidential patient information; adherence to HIPAA regulations is mandatory.
