Key Responsibilities
  • Guest Registration: Register guests, assign rooms, and accommodate special requests whenever possible.
  • Payment Processing: Verify guest payment methods, follow established credit-checking procedures, and accurately post charges to guest rooms.
  • Communication: Communicate with all departments in the hotel to ensure an exceptional experience for the guest.
  • Room Management: Know room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates.
  • Sales and Marketing: Present options and alternatives to guests, use suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and promote other hotel services.
  • Housekeeping Coordination: Work closely with the housekeeping department to keep room status reports up to date and coordinate requests for maintenance and repair work.
  • Cash Handling: Perform cashiering tasks, including bill/invoice settlement and posting charges to the guest.
  • Customer Service: Communicate hotel services and amenities to guests, obtain proper identification for tax-exempt guests, and read and initial the pass-on log and bulletin board daily.
Requirements
  • Physical Demands: Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time as customary in a hotel front office environment.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School diploma or GED desired.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a hotel environment or customer service required.
