The Patient Service Representative plays a crucial role in ensuring a seamless experience for patients within the healthcare system. - Maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and colleagues.
- Assist in various departmental operations as required.
- Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and standards.
- Refer to departmental documentation for specific responsibilities provided during orientation.
- Ensure compliance with regulations regarding the secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients, including participation in annual training and adherence to the UH Code of Conduct.
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a receptionist or secretarial role (Preferred)
- Customer service experience, particularly in a healthcare setting (Required)
- Typing proficiency of at least 30 words per minute (Required)
- Strong verbal and communication skills (Required)
- Attention to detail (Required)
- Basic computer literacy (Required)
- Familiarity with ICD9 coding and medical terminology (Preferred)
- Occasional standing and walking
- Constant sitting
- Rare lifting and carrying of up to 20 lbs
- Frequent repetitive motions and coordination of eye/hand/foot
- Up to 10% travel may be required
