Medical Office Assistant

Community Memorial Health System is seeking a full-time Medical Office Assistant to provide direct support to the Family Health Center teams in both clinical and administrative areas.
Job Summary:
The Medical Office Assistant will be responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks, and working as part of a team with Physicians, APPs, Licensed Nurses, Receptionists, and all other staff.
Responsibilities:
- Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, including checking schedules and organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam rooms, and assisting patients as needed with walking transfers, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.
- Completes clerical responsibilities as assigned, including sending/receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/X-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
- Meets environmental responsibilities as assigned, including setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocols, cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
- Complete organizational responsibilities as assigned, including respecting/promoting patient rights, responding appropriately to emergency codes, and sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor.
- Fulfills clinical medical assisting responsibilities, including checking vital signs, physical examination preparations, prescription verifications with physician's orders, biohazard waste disposal and monitoring, laboratory procedures, quality control methods, CLIA-waived testing, venipunctures, specimen handling, EKG testing, and completing lab draws.
Requirements:
Candidates must have a minimum H.S. diploma or GED, excellent interpersonal skills, and a customer service attitude. Preferred qualifications include experience working as a MOA or MA and/or certified as a Medical Assistant or CNA.
