Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced maintenance professional to join our team at the City of Fort Wayne. As an Industrial Facility Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining equipment at our Filtration Plant and Water Pollution Control Plant, as well as their related facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain equipment, including pumps, motors, and other mechanical systems
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal equipment performance
  • Assist in training other employees and provide guidance on maintenance procedures
  • Utilize lockout/tag out procedures when working on systems and equipment
  • Update mechanical knowledge and stay current with relevant developments
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and management
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent, plus 3 years of hands-on mechanical experience
  • Associates degree in a related field, plus 2 years of hands-on mechanical experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Specialized mechanical and diagnostic knowledge and abilities
  • Commercial Drivers License - Class B with Tanker endorsement within a year of employment
Working Conditions

The incumbent will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to mechanical equipment and potentially hazardous materials. The ability to work in confined spaces and wear safety equipment is essential.
