Job DescriptionRole Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Health Specialist to join our team at Stafford Municipal School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive health services programs for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement health services programs to promote student health and well-being.
  2. Provide direct care to students, utilizing professional assessment skills and established school health protocols.
  3. Act as a health advocate for students, notifying parents of accidents or illnesses and securing medical care as needed.
  4. Coordinate the administration of medications to students at school, in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  5. Establish and maintain effective procedures for mandatory screening programs, making referrals as necessary.
Requirements
  • Two years of nursing experience, preferably in community health.
  • Knowledge of health appraisal to identify student health defects.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
  • Valid nurse license (RN or LVN) to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Certified by Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening.
  • CPR Certification.
Working Conditions

The School Health Specialist will work in a fast-paced school environment, interacting with students, teachers, parents, and other staff members. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and organizational skills.
