We are a prominent association committed to excellence in the engineered wood products sector. APA – The Engineered Wood Association is dedicated to ensuring that our members' products adhere to rigorous national and international quality standards.
Your Role:
As a Quality Auditor, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving product and process quality for our members. Reporting to the Region Manager, your responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive audits, inspections, and testing to ensure adherence to established standards and protocols. Your expertise will significantly contribute to the ongoing enhancement of production processes and quality systems within the engineered wood industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute quality assurance audits, encompassing inspections, sampling, and product testing.
- Conduct audits of quality systems related to mill production processes, delivering both verbal and written feedback to plant management.
- Assess products for compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
- Communicate quality levels and nonconformities to mill management and the Region Manager.
- Perform product sampling, retesting, intensive grading, and test witnessing as necessary.
- Educate and oversee mill personnel on quality standards and procedures.
- Maintain effective communication with mill management and quality teams.
- Carry out field inspections, surveys, training sessions, and test witnessing.
- Responsible management and maintenance of Association equipment and leased vehicles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or two years of relevant experience/training, or a combination of education and experience.
- Ability to obtain and sustain ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) certification, and potentially ISO Lead Auditor certification.
- Familiarity with national and international quality standards.
- Working knowledge of engineered wood products and processes, including plywood, OSB, glulam, LVL, and I-joists.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows operating systems.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- Mathematical skills, including the ability to work with fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, and statistical concepts.
- Physical capability to handle and stack wood panels and lift/move 50 lbs. repeatedly.
