About the Role

The Field Training Specialist plays a crucial role in providing practical coaching and support to technicians who have recently completed their training, as well as to seasoned technicians who may need assistance in specific areas. This position involves collaborating with supervisors and the training department to monitor and enhance the developmental progress of assigned technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize mentoring techniques to foster the growth of mentees and create tailored learning paths.
  • Introduce trainees to essential locating and worksite practices as outlined by management.
  • Engage trainees with open-ended questions, adjusting the complexity of tasks to match their skill levels, while clearly communicating learning objectives and providing constructive feedback.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of mentoring interactions and strategies, adhering to established protocols.
  • Regularly communicate with the training team, supervisors, and management regarding trainee progress and challenges.
  • Promptly report any issues affecting trainee development, including behavioral or performance concerns.
  • Assess trainee performance through direct observation.
  • Work closely with mentees for a duration of 2 to 4 weeks, utilizing both in-person and virtual formats as necessary.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED, along with relevant work experience, is preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of locating experience demonstrating high efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within the field.
  • Coaching or teaching experience is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
