Overview:

The Retail Sales Training Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the sales and service capabilities of retail teams across a specified area, with a primary focus on driving growth in deposits and loans. This position requires a solid grasp of essential sales training principles and the ability to implement strategies that yield measurable outcomes. A successful Retail Sales Training Specialist will ensure that front-line staff are well-versed in the bank's offerings through various training methods, including in-person, virtual, and telephone sessions. The Specialist will evaluate sales performance data to pinpoint trends and identify training requirements that align with the sales goals of retail teams. Constructive feedback will be provided consistently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with management to identify training requirements.
  • Assess sales performance metrics to direct training efforts and enhance team effectiveness.
  • Utilize a streamlined sales approach that maximizes efficiency and consistency, covering all stages from prospecting to closing.
  • Collaborate with the Military Retail Admin Officer to develop and deliver training for both new and existing team members, focusing on product knowledge, effective marketing strategies, and client relationship management.
  • Suggest improvements to training programs as necessary.
  • Determine the most effective training delivery methods based on the subject matter.
  • Provide clear and focused feedback to team members regarding their sales and service development.
  • Act as a resource for sales strategies and best practices for retail teams.
  • Stay informed about all bank products, services, and compliance requirements to provide accurate support to retail teams.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to achieving results while adhering to company policies.
  • Organize, monitor, and communicate training activities and processes.
  • Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills, tailoring messages for diverse audiences.
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for both clients and associates, regularly assessing and addressing any potential hazards.
  • Embrace and promote the company's core values and objectives.
  • Maintain regular attendance at the designated work location during standard business hours.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's degree or higher is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in banking is required.
  • At least one year of experience in a training role is necessary.
  • Two years of sales experience with a proven track record of effective sales techniques is required.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills are essential for effective learning and knowledge transfer.
  • Public speaking proficiency with the ability to engage participants throughout the training process.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to concentrate amidst frequent interruptions are critical.
  • A professional demeanor, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently are essential.
  • Capability to manage stress and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in customer information systems, bank products, and Microsoft Office Suite is required; familiarity with Power BI and other relevant systems is a plus.
  • Daily travel within the assigned region is required, with occasional overnight travel.

Physical Requirements:

This role is typically performed in an office or retail banking environment. It involves extended periods of sitting and standing, as well as the ability to navigate the workspace. The position requires the use of office equipment, including computers and telephones, necessitating dexterity in handling keyboards and screens. Effective communication, both verbal and written, is essential for conveying information clearly. The ability to travel locally and occasionally outside the area is necessary. The role may also involve light lifting of up to 5 pounds.
