Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Veterinary Technician to join our team at Northshore Animal Hospital in Knoxville, TN. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinarians in delivering high-quality medical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery, including preparing patients for surgery and monitoring vital signs during procedures.
  • Obtain blood, stool, and other samples, perform in-hospital laboratory testing, and prepare specimens for outside laboratories.
  • Take, develop, and maintain radiographs, following proper safety procedures.
  • Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
  • Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments at the discretion of the veterinarian.
  • Clean and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and lab spaces, restock exam rooms with supplies, and assist other team members in keeping public areas clean.
  • Demonstrate warmth, courtesy, and professionalism in all interactions with clients and exercise compassion and care in all interactions with patients.
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians and practice team members, including client discussions, patient plans, and client concerns.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Previous veterinary experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
  • Practice OSHA safety techniques, including proper PPE.
  • Basic math skills and ability to calculate medication dosages.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.
