Veterinary Technician - Critical Care - Overnight Shifts

We are in search of a dedicated and skilled individual to join our Critical Care team as a Registered Veterinary Technician or Senior Veterinary Assistant. Our Critical Care unit offers continuous specialized care and treatment for hospitalized patients requiring intensive monitoring. We manage a variety of cases, including gastrointestinal, metabolic, and respiratory emergencies, immune-mediated disorders, and cardiac failures. From fundamental patient care and emotional support to advanced interventions such as oxygen therapy, total parenteral nutrition, and blood transfusions, our critical care professionals are essential to our patients' recovery.
Position Overview:
We are currently reviewing applications from committed, reliable, and team-oriented candidates who are ready to integrate into our highly skilled veterinary healthcare team. Compensation: The salary range for this position is between $25 - $40 per hour, with an additional $5 differential for overnight shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing incoming patients
- Documenting medical histories and SOAP notes
- Delivering nursing care to critically ill patients, ensuring ongoing evaluation and monitoring
- Exhibiting expertise in advanced hospitalization care and continuous rate infusions (CRIs)
- Conducting in-house laboratory tests
- Placing intravenous (IV) catheters with skill
- Performing thorough and accurate patient rounds
- Safely restraining anxious and distressed patients
- Measuring temperature, pulse, and respiration (TPR) and maintaining medical records
- Identifying situations that require immediate veterinary intervention
- Acting as an advocate for both the patient and their owner
- High school diploma
- Clinical experience in the veterinary field as a Registered Veterinary Technician, or three consecutive years of Veterinary Assistant experience in an Emergency Room/Critical Care Unit environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients, demonstrating professionalism, patience, and confidentiality
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations for medication dosages, CRIs, client invoices, and estimates
- Possession or ability to obtain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire (waived if a valid CA-RVT license is held)
- Full-time
- 4/10 schedule
- Flexibility required, including some holidays and weekends
- Overnight shifts with a $5 differential
- Hiring bonus of up to $5,000 for new, full-time employees
