Position Overview:
The primary goal of this role is to enhance the patient journey and clinical results within the Endocrinology Service by facilitating access to care, ensuring seamless transitions between inpatient and outpatient settings, and delivering effective management of chronic endocrine disorders. Middleton Family Medicine is committed to a 'medical home' approach in our specialty practices, incorporating advanced access methods such as telephone consultations, electronic medical records, and virtual visits. We acknowledge the importance of long-term management for patients with chronic conditions in specialty settings. In the outpatient environment, we strive for exemplary endocrine management in acute care scenarios, necessitating multidisciplinary collaboration. The Registered Nurse operates under the clinical guidance of our Endocrinologist and Lead of the Endocrine Department, ensuring the training and quality of care provided.

Key Responsibilities:
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing telephone inquiries from Endocrinology patients regarding minor issues based on established protocols
  • Reviewing and triaging electronic consultation requests, including providing guidance to referring physicians and determining which patients require evaluation in the Endocrine department
  • Coordinating care for patients referred to the Endocrinology service
  • Assisting in the scheduling of hormonal/metabolic testing, biopsies, and procedures for Endocrinology patients
  • Conducting pre-procedure evaluations, including obtaining medical histories and informed consent from patients
  • Performing outpatient procedures, such as ACTH stimulation testing

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong core clinical skills with a willingness to learn and grow

  • A focus on continuous improvement
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records
  • The ability to learn and interpret Continuous Glucose Monitoring data and assist with insulin pump management

Compensation:Hourly rate of $30 to $40

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse licensure
  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) preferred
