Drive Innovation in AI/ML and Data Initiatives

Maximus is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to lead cutting-edge AI/ML and data initiatives for the Department of Defense's Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving technical projects, developing high-level data mesh design patterns, and ensuring interoperable solutions across complex multi-vendor environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with industry and USG partners to establish high-level data mesh design patterns and proofs of concept/prototypes.
  • Proactively identify and develop solutions to mitigate technical risks, ensuring compliance with global standards and interoperability with DoD systems.
  • Create and review relevant documentation, such as diagrams, detailed assessments, and design documents.
  • Assist in the evaluation of new products and services, making recommendations for improvements and assisting in the development and documentation of network architecture.
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor in formulating technical approaches, selecting tools, and diagnosing methods for solving customer problems using artificial intelligence.
  • Consult with organizations to obtain or exchange complex technical information.
  • Ensure all functional and performance analysis models developed reflect operational performance requirements.
Requirements:
  • An active Secret security clearance is required.
  • A Bachelor's Degree plus at least 4 years of experience, or a Master's Degree plus 2 years of experience, in Systems Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
  • Experience with network design/development and design of data exchange standards such as APIs, cloud storage, and access-denied environments.
  • Great technical writing skills.
  • Experience in Python programming and industry-standard Software Engineering software.
  • Familiarity with Data Mesh Design, Systems of Systems, Systems Engineering, Zero Trust Architecture, Access Management, DoD Classification Implementation, and Microservice Architecture.
