Boston Public Schools Student Support Specialist

The City Connects Coordinator role at Boston Public Schools is an exciting opportunity to join our team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of students in urban education. Located in Boston, Massachusetts, this position requires a Master's degree in School Counseling, Social Work, or Mental Health Counseling, as well as a license in one of these fields.
As a City Connects Coordinator, you will be responsible for establishing and leading a Student Support team and process that identifies and responds to the strengths and needs of each student. This includes connecting students to prevention, early intervention, and intensive services programs that address their physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development.
We are seeking an experienced professional who can develop and enhance community partnerships with various agencies to meet the identified needs of students, families, and the school. Additionally, you will collaborate with school staff to implement the City Connects model and promote it to the school community, families, and community agencies.
You will also engage families and caregivers in understanding and supporting their children's education, focusing on how academic outcomes are enhanced by addressing social/emotional and personal development needs. Data collection and entry will be an essential aspect of this role.
Key qualifications for this position include:
- Master's degree in School Counseling, Social Work, or Mental Health Counseling
- Licence in one of the following: School Counseling, Pupil Adjustment, Social Work, OR Mental Health Counseling
- Experience working in a school environment
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse staff, students, and families
A competitive salary of $65,000 - $75,000 per year, commensurate with experience, is offered. We value diversity and inclusion, and we encourage applications from candidates with experience working in urban public schools and proficiency in a second language.
