Job Overview

Maury County Public Schools seeks a dedicated Early Childhood Special Education Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for assessing student progress, determining the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques, and providing parents with reports of the student's progress as outlined in district procedures.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develops and Implements IEP Plans: Develops and implements annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students, ensuring that each plan is tailored to meet the unique needs of each child.
  • Provides Research-Based Instruction: Provides research-based, specialized instruction to address the instructional goals contained within each student's IEP, utilizing evidence-based practices to drive student growth.
  • Collaborates with IEP Teams: Coordinates the delivery of special education and related services in each student's IEP, working closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure seamless implementation.
  • Serves as Primary Contact: Schedules IEP team meetings and serves as the primary contact for the parent/guardian, maintaining open lines of communication throughout the process.
  • Manages Student Behavior: Manages student behavior and develops and implements behavior intervention plans when needed, utilizing positive behavioral supports to promote student success.
  • Provides Instructional Direction: Provides instructional direction to paraprofessional support staff, ensuring that all staff members are equipped to provide high-quality support to students.
  • Consults with Classroom Teachers: Provides consultation to classroom teachers regarding classroom accommodations, instructional modifications, adaptive equipment, behavior intervention plans to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Maintains Student Records: Maintains students' Special Education records according to state and federal regulations and district procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Represents the School: Represents the school and community in a positive manner, upholding the values and mission of Maury County Public Schools.
  • Confidentiality: Regards information on student records and in the school setting as strictly confidential, adhering to all relevant laws and regulations.

Salary Information:

The estimated salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
