Job Overview

The Chestnut Hill School is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the school's interior spaces and exterior grounds, ensuring a safe and clean environment for students, faculty, and staff.

About the Role

This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

As a Facilities Technician at The Chestnut Hill School, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Plant Operations:
    • Troubleshoot issues with building equipment and the building management system.
    • Perform minor plumbing work, including unclogging drains, replacing faucet washers, and toilet repairs.
    • Perform minor electrical work, including changing outlet plates, resetting circuit breakers, and resetting GFCI outlets.
    • Support the facilities and safety systems in the building - HVAC, boilers, machine rooms, fire alarm systems, security cameras, and door systems.
    • Set up and break down for special and weekend events.
    • Assist and support faculty, staff, students, parents, and visitors.
    • Complete project work as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
  • Maintenance:
    • Inspect playgrounds and sidewalks.
    • Maintain grounds and landscaping.
    • Manage recycling and trash removal.
    • Lunchroom setup and cleanup.
    • Cleaning throughout the building when necessary (not including evening janitorial).
    • On-call snow removal (including off-hours and weekends).
    • Painting maintenance.
    • Respond to Zendesk work orders (help tickets).
  • Safety:
    • Evaluate grounds to ensure they are clear and safe.
    • Participate in emergency planning and drills and serve as a member of the Crisis Management Team.
    • Continuously monitor 2-way radios during work hours.
Requirements

To be successful as a Facilities Technician at The Chestnut Hill School, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance, facilities, or related fields.
  • The ability to walk, stand, maintain balance, climb ladders, crouch, lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, and reach above shoulder level.
  • The ability to perform routine tasks without close supervision and adjust priorities during the day to accommodate facility needs.
  • The ability to work required overtime, including off-hours and on-call as necessary.
  • Knowledge and experience with painting and landscaping.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to help whenever needed.
  • The ability to keep open lines of communication with the Facilities Manager and other Facilities Department members throughout the shift.
  • Reliability, responsibility, and neat appearance.
  • The ability to withstand inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • The ability to take direction as well as work independently as a self-starter.
  • A current driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Employment is conditional on a clean background check, including a CORI, SORI, and fingerprinting.
