Medical Nurse Specialist

UPMC Altoona is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to join its Surgical Trauma/Medical Oncology & Palliative Care team. The ideal candidate will work evening shifts (3pm - 11pm), including rotating weekends and holidays. This position is eligible for a generous sign-on bonus, with nurses receiving $10,000 or $7,500 depending on their level of experience.
The Surgical Trauma/Medical Oncology & Palliative Care unit is a fast-paced environment specializing in the care of post-surgical adults and low acuity trauma patients. Nurses are trained and certified to administer chemotherapy and provide care to patients who may require telemetry monitoring, neutropenic precautions, and other conditions. Each plan of care is tailored to meet each patient's unique needs.
Responsibilities include planning patient care conferences, maintaining current plans of care, utilizing community agencies, and serving as a consultant to other members of the healthcare team. Nurses must also demonstrate professionalism, revise plans of care as necessary, evaluate patient outcomes, and implement nursing care protocols and standards.
