At the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, we are seeking a dedicated Nurse Care Specialist to join our team in the Emergency Department. Salary: The estimated salary for this position is $29.50-$41.50 per hour, depending on education and experience. This figure takes into account the minimum starting pay rates mentioned in the job description.

About the Role

The Nurse Care Specialist will be responsible for providing direct care to patients, administering medications, and performing procedures safely and accurately. You will also assess and reassess patient needs, create care plans, and prioritize tasks effectively.

In addition to your clinical expertise, you will engage in team discussions, utilize various computer systems, and contribute to the education of staff and students. Your commitment to patient safety and compliance with universal precautions and occupational exposure policies is essential.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must hold a current license to practice nursing in the State of Pennsylvania and satisfactorily complete the Nursing Department's orientation program and probationary period. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred, but not required.

You will also need to obtain one of the eight certifications within two years of hire or transfer, such as Acute/Critical Care RN (CCRN) or Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and CPR skills are also necessary.
