Job Summary

Albany State University seeks a visionary Chief Information Officer to establish and direct the strategic long-term goals, policies, and procedures for Information Technology Services. Key Responsibilities
  • Manage staffing resources for the Department, including providing leadership and guidance to department directors, communicating university needs, identifying development needs, and providing professional development opportunities.
  • Resolve resource deployment issues and provide oversight for each ITS department and its resources.
  • Manage budgets and purchases, identifying areas for streamlining and implementing cost-saving measures.
  • Research and evaluate new technology, meeting with developers, integrators, other colleges and universities, and USG to discuss possible solutions to challenges and improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate campus-wide technology projects, identifying opportunities, defining goals, and developing plans for projects, including improving current services or introducing new products or services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • 8 years of management experience in information technology leading a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • 5 years of experience with business continuity planning, auditing, and risk management, as well as contract and vendor negotiation.
  • 5 years of customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • Experience working in higher education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current technologies and their application within higher education.
  • Knowledge of trends in technology to identify future opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Knowledge of computer networks, databases, application development, server and user administration.
  • Knowledge of and a solid understanding of information technology and information security.
  • Skills in managing technical staff, customer service, and oral and written communication.
  • Abilities to evaluate multiple non-technical symptoms to help identify technology solutions, adapt quickly to unforeseen situations, and conduct a cause-and-effect analysis.
