About Us:

Paul D. Camp Community College is a small, 2-year institution in Southeast Virginia, offering associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates in transfer and career/technical programs.

We provide credit and non-credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries, as well as special interest classes for the community and summer classes for youth through our Regional Workforce Development Center.

A dual enrollment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies classes are available at our college.

About the Role:

This part-time position involves assisting students with educational and career planning services in partnership with the Virginia Department of Social Services VIEW Program.

The successful candidate will design and conduct training and development courses to improve student skills, assist students in overcoming barriers to their success, and identify and connect them with supportive resources and services.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social services, or a related field.
  • Considerable knowledge of curriculum and program development.
  • Knowledge of the development of individual action plans.
  • Knowledge of job search, resume writing, interview skills, and professional soft skills.
  • Knowledge of student resources including financial aid and supportive services.
  • Demonstrated skill in integrating technology into curriculum.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of instruction and engage in a positive academic environment to support students with varying academic and other supportive needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and other college stakeholders.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite software and applications, and personal computers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience at the community college level.

Compensation: Up to $30.00 per hour, dependent upon experience and qualifications.
