The Collections Assistant will provide administrative and clerical support to the collections department by preparing, researching, and maintaining collection records.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with Collections Efforts
- Generate system form letters, including default and demand letters, according to tenant terms and agreements.
- Research tenant billings and related invoices or records in response to requests from tenants and/or Collections Specialists.
- Locate, copy, and forward related materials to the requestor by fax or mail.
- Set up and maintain collections files.
- Monitor and update collection status in the JD Edwards system database.
- Assist the department in performing various clerical duties related to collection activities or special projects/research.

Education, Training, and/or Experience
A high school degree with two plus years of general clerical or administrative office experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics
- Attention to Detail
- High attention to detail is required.
- Organized and able to prioritize tasks.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, are required.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and follow office procedures.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels.
- Computer skills, including accounting system, database, and spreadsheet software capabilities.
An Associate's degree in bookkeeping or accounting is preferred. Three years of experience in a real estate administrative capacity is also preferred.
Physical DemandsThe nature of the work requires the ability to operate standard business office equipment. The ability to sit for long periods of time and perform data entry and/or research on a computer display, communicate and exchange information, collect, compile, and prepare work documents, set up and maintain work files is also required.
Working ConditionsThe work is performed in a general office environment. Availability for overtime during peak periods may be required.
