Key Responsibilities

Drees Homes is seeking a Purchasing Coordinator for our Houston Division. This role entails supporting various aspects of Purchasing and Estimating. The Purchasing Coordinator will take charge of designated projects, providing analysis, background information, and summaries of current issues while proposing viable solutions.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Manage assigned projects, addressing concerns related to purchase orders and FPOs.
  • Assist Builders and Estimators in ensuring the accuracy of purchase orders.
  • Investigate and validate requests, ensuring no duplications exist.
  • Analyze data to identify discrepancies and inconsistencies.
  • Participate in weekly starts and FPO meetings, offering support as required.
  • Collaborate with the Cost Analysis and Operations Manager on cost-related matters.
  • Facilitate pricing acquisition from trade partners for new plans and options.
  • Oversee permitting processes and HOA approvals for homes.
  • Ensure vendor packets are current and accurate, following up with trade partners as needed.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Excel spreadsheets.
  • Familiarity with JD Edwards and On Screen Take Off is advantageous.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, team player with strong communication skills (both internal and external).
  • Ability to interpret bid sets and architectural plans, as well as construct cost estimates, is preferred.
  • Experience in conducting bid analysis is a plus.
  • A visual learner with excellent organizational skills and an independent work ethic.
  • Experience with permitting and collaboration with builders is beneficial.
  • Self-motivated, capable of multitasking and meeting deadlines.
  • A proactive problem solver who can manage project ownership.
  • Experience in a construction-related role is highly valued.
  • A High School Diploma is required; a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in homebuilding is preferred.

The work schedule for this position is Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with additional hours as necessary.
