Job Title: Community Impact Specialist

At Norfolk Southern, we are committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve. As a Community Impact Specialist, you will play a key role in implementing our employee-facing philanthropy strategy, enhancing inclusion and community engagement across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute company-wide giving programs and initiatives, including managing giving systems, processes, and payments, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to foster strong community partnerships.
  • Manage multiple scholarship programs for NS employees and community members, ensuring a fair and transparent process.
  • Support the implementation of various yearly engagement campaigns, such as Giving November, to promote employee participation and community involvement.
  • Partner with employee resource groups to develop initiatives that help them realize their goals and advance inclusion, promoting a culture of diversity and respect.
  • Oversee nonprofit sponsorships and ensure employee participation, building strong relationships with community organizations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external communications teams to build Norfolk Southern's brand as a responsible corporate citizen, highlighting our commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.
  • Continuously evaluate current programs and develop unique opportunities to increase employee contributions, tracking and analyzing metrics to inform decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with all IRS tax requirements and NS requested documentation, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Requirements:
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with the ability to think out-of-the-box and develop innovative solutions.
  • Experience setting data-driven targets and analyzing progress, with a strong understanding of metrics and evaluation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 0-1 years of experience in a related field, with a strong understanding of community engagement and philanthropy.
  • Preferred: 2-3 years of experience, with a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, such as business, communications, or non-profit management.
Technical Skills:
  • MS Excel/Spreadsheets, with experience in data analysis and metrics tracking.
  • MS PowerPoint/Presentations, with experience in creating engaging and informative presentations.
  • MS Word/Word Processing, with experience in writing and editing.
  • Preferred: Experience using CSR platforms, with a strong understanding of social responsibility and community engagement.
Work Environment:

Office environment, with occasional weekend work and 0-2 days of travel per month.

No shift work or on-call requirements.
