Job Title: Compensation and Benefits Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Compensation and Benefits Manager to join our team at the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing innovative human resources programs and initiatives that attract, develop, engage, support, and retain a high-performing staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer health and welfare benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, COBRA, FMLA, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability.
  • Manage biweekly payroll processing, including processing 401(k) transmittals, HSA deposits, and flexible spending deposits.
  • Develop and implement compensation plans, structures, or pay practices, and participate in compensation surveys and analyses.
  • Oversee the annual benefits open enrollment program and manage employee training as it relates to employee benefits.
  • Administer the day-to-day responsibilities associated with the RICFB's 401(k) program, including enrolling new employees, administering 401(k) contribution changes, and coordinating employee educational and promotional programs.
  • Participate in 401(k) related surveys, attend and take minutes at the 401(k) Finance Committee meetings, and provide information and reports to the Finance Department on 401(k) contributions.
  • Manage the annual 401(k) catch-up contribution process and ensure annual RMDs are taken from the plan.
  • Collaborate with the Director of HR to develop and maintain job descriptions, perform market and FLSA analyses, and complete job evaluations/re-evaluations.
  • Participate in processing the annual merit increase and the company bonus program, and review and make periodic recommendations regarding all other programs that utilize compensation as rewards.
  • Conduct background checks and motor vehicle license checks for new and existing employees, coordinate random drug testing program for drivers, and assist in the new employee onboarding process.
  • Maintain the personnel files for the organization, onboard employees into the payroll and benefit programs, and process employee terminations through the payroll and benefit systems.
  • Coordinate the monthly staff meetings for the organization, serve as an occasional backup to the reception function, and attend and provide support at special events as needed.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of related experience in progressively higher-level human resource roles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A deep understanding of payroll, benefits, and compensation administration, as well as highly skilled in ADP or similar payroll and/or HRIS systems.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with strong written and oral communication skills, and highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality for all personnel matters, self-motivated, and committed to workplace participation and diversity.
  • Understand and agree with the vision and mission of the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and be committed to providing services to people facing situations of hunger and poverty.
