About the Role

Oak View Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Manager to join our team at the Seattle Aquarium. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will be responsible for overseeing the direction of the banquet department, ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction, profitability, and a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Event Management: Manage and run all banquet operations before, during, and after events, including completing banquet planning sheets, ordering supplies, reviewing set-up, food and beverage preparation, service, staff scheduling, and guest complaint resolution.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise and train hourly employees, including completing documentation of employee performance and attendance issues in accordance with company policy and practice.
  • Inventory Management: Conduct regular physical inventories of food and beverage supplies, assess projected needs, and update current pricing of inventory.
  • Financial Management: Monitor and control the banquet budget, including labor costs, beverage costs, supplies, and equipment, and coordinate with event budgets to maximize revenue and minimize expenses.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure high standards of sanitation and cleanliness are maintained throughout all areas of food and beverage at all times, and enforce all Oak View Group and venue policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills: Prior experience in the field of hospitality with specific experience in catering sales/conference services and/or banquets is essential. Knowledge of revenue management, training, and motivation of peers is encouraged.
  • Certifications: Valid Food Handlers certificate if required by state and/or county of venue, and valid Alcohol Service Permit if required by state and/or county of venue.
