We are seeking a highly skilled Performance Analyst to join our team at the U.S. Soccer Federation. As a key member of our technical staff, you will be responsible for contributing to the design and delivery of data and video analysis to support our coaches and players in all phases of the game.
Key Responsibilities- Data Analysis and Reporting: Develop automated data reports to enhance the delivery of information and efficiency of workflows, ensuring consistent and impactful decision-making.
- Performance Metrics and Visualization: Create a series of metrics and visualizations to accurately measure key aspects of our team's game model and benchmark against other nations.
- Data Visualization and Dashboards: Develop interactive data visualization or dashboards for our analysis department and technical staff to analyze performance on a player and team level.
- Performance Insights: Answer performance questions using various event, tracking, and player physical data sources to understand key factors for tournament success.
- Data Ingestion and Integration: Ingest data from third-party APIs and utilize it in both live and post-match capacities.
- Performance Analysis Support: Contribute to the design and delivery of all performance analysis support, including pre-match, in-game, post-match, individual player support, long-term player and team tracking.
- Travel and Collaboration: Travel extensively with our Men's National Team for training camps and competitions, both domestically and internationally, and collaborate with other analysts to improve and expand analysis processes.
- Relationship Building: Develop strong working relationships across our multi-disciplinary team, sharing and informing best practice, and manage relationships with external technology partners to enhance performance analysis support.
- Professional Development: Stay up-to-date on the latest performance analysis research and technology, and support the development of other colleagues within the federation.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Performance Analysis, Mathematics, or equivalent area.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of applied experience as a data analyst (or similar role) working with coaches and performance staff.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in SQL-style databases, Python or R programming languages, and experience working with various performance analysis equipment and technology.
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and verbal communication skills, strong knowledge and understanding of soccer, and ability to operate a drone and hi-pod.
- Advanced Education: Master's Degree in Performance Analysis, Mathematics, or equivalent area.
- Programming Languages: Knowledge and understanding of a programming language (Python, R, or SQL).
- Data Visualization: Practical experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Qlik, etc.).
- Coaching and Playing Experience: Coaching and/or playing experience preferred.
