Nutrition Care Specialist

This position is under the direction and supervision of a licensed, registered dietitian nutritionist. The Registered Dietitian is responsible for providing nutrition care and education to patients and/or caregiver(s).
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinates, reviews, plans, updates, and implements medical nutrition therapy to patients according to established policies and procedures.
- Monitors patients receiving nutrition support.
- Provides nutrition education to patients, caregivers, staff, and community partners.
- Serves as a preceptor for medical, dietetic, and food service interns and/or clinical research.
- Participates and serves on interdisciplinary team meetings, patient rounds, multidisciplinary committees, and/or discharge planning.
- Assists with performance and quality improvement projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an Academy of Dietetics (AND) accredited institution and/or approved internship program.
- Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) Registration.
- South Carolina Dietetics License.
- Maintain 75 hours of continuing education every 5 years.
- Ability to interpret data, teach, communicate to other healthcare professionals, manipulate numbers, and write in medical records.
