Job Description

Perimeter Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Director of Admissions and Referral to manage the daily functions and operations of the Assessment and Referral Department. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to provide supervision and training to staff on accuracy and appropriate assessments of clients with behavioral, emotional, and mental health disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial assessments to establish and refer patients to the appropriate level of care.
  • Utilize cultural, spiritual, and social groups to deliver healthcare services.
  • Receive incoming inquiry calls and interviews "walk-ins" to establish the appropriate level of care.
  • Serve as a client liaison and referring agency liaison to Business Development by providing accurate completed interviews of client needs and making appropriate referrals.
  • Monitor direct/indirect referral sources and follow up with professional or agency referral sources regarding outpatient referrals.
  • Document, collect, process daily logs, budget supply inventory, and organize data resulting from inquiry calls to assist with referral development.
  • Participate in hospital programs designed to ensure patient safety.
  • Exhibit a desire to contribute to the long and short-range goals of the department and hospital.
  • Complete necessary mandatory requirements for the job, including CPR, in-services, TB annual testing, and age-specific requirements.
  • Supervise staff and assure relevant competencies are completed in a timely manner.
  • Notify the supervisor of essential information and changes.
  • Utilize the proper defined channels of communication and lines of authority.
  • As a member of the Senior Leadership team, serve as Administrator-On-Call through a rotation schedule.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with physicians and staff throughout the hospital to support unit goals and facilitate the delivery of patient care.
  • Work and interact with other staff members to accomplish overall hospital and departmental goals by utilizing a logical approach to solve problems and manage situations in a positive manner.
  • Demonstrate appropriate telephone etiquette and professionalism with clients, during crises, and disagreements.
  • Accept expected and unexpected duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor and demonstrate flexibility with scheduling, staffing, and assist in all areas of the department as needed.

Requirements:

1. Master's Degree in Social Work or licensed RN, or related field within the helping profession.

2. Minimum of Two + years' experience of the admission process for both inpatient and outpatient assessment and/or treatment.

3. Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patient's rights, community/regional mental health resources, healthcare, treatment, crisis intervention, along with principles and practices of customer service.

4. Must be knowledgeable of insurance processes to verify Primary payor sources, including PPO's, Managed Care Program, and Benefits.

5. Knowledge of behavioral health theory and practice, including basic knowledge related to physical, psychological, social, cultural, safety, and/or educational needs.

6. Knowledge and skills related to the developmental stages of adults and the special needs of the geriatric population; ability to interpret information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.
