Principal Engineer Process Design

At Air Company, we are revolutionizing the way we approach carbon capture and utilization. As a Principal Engineer, Process Design, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing cutting-edge process design solutions that drive our mission forward.
About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer, Process Design to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development of process design solutions for our carbon capture and utilization technologies. You will work closely with our cross-functional team to design, develop, and implement process flowsheets, simulations, and equipment selection for our pilot, demonstration, and commercial plants.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of process design solutions for our carbon capture and utilization technologies
- Design, develop, and implement process flowsheets, simulations, and equipment selection for our pilot, demonstration, and commercial plants
- Collaborate with our cross-functional team to ensure seamless integration of process design solutions with our overall business strategy
- Develop and maintain process design documentation, including process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and equipment specifications
- Perform data analysis and present findings and recommendations to the team
- Ensure compliance with relevant engineering design standards, guidelines, and regulations
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering
- 15 years of industrial working experience as a commercial-scale process unit engineer, process design engineer, or separations process development engineer
- Expertise in industry-standard process simulation modeling software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS)
- Expertise in generating commercial-scale PFDs and P&IDs and familiarity with industrial standards (e.g., ISO, ISA, DIN, PIP)
- Familiarity with yield estimates development, phases of FEL studies, and FEED studies
- Work experience with the detailed design, development, and down-selection of equipment
- Work experience with process economics
- A strong knowledge and commitment to personal and process safety protocols
- Great attitude with an ability to work collaboratively, proactively, and independently, along with an eagerness to share knowledge and learn from others
- Masters degree or PhD in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) credentials
- Work experience as a process engineer within a technology development or EPC company
- Operational experience of large-scale production plants
