About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer, Process Design to join our team at Air Company. As a key member of our RD&E department, you will contribute to the development of innovative process designs and technologies that transform carbon dioxide into valuable chemicals and fuels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise technology development and engineering design for downstream separation applications involving chemical and fuel product recovery.
  • Develop and implement process synthesis, simulation, and scale-up design, equipment selection, and process economics for downstream separation applications based on upstream carbon dioxide conversion technologies.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to develop new separation technologies and support R&D efforts.
  • Partner with the in-house Engineering team to oversee full engineering package development and EPCs for front-end engineering activities.
  • Analyze data, present findings, and provide recommendations in oral presentations and written reports.
  • Manage projects within cost, time, quality, and process safety constraints.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering design standards, guidelines, and environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering.
  • 15 years of industrial working experience as a commercial-scale process unit engineer, process design engineer, or separations process development engineer in industries such as petroleum refining, petrochemical processing, chemical processing, renewable energy, or bio-energy.
  • Expertise in industry-standard process simulation modeling software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
  • Experience with generating commercial-scale PFDs and P&IDs and familiarity with industrial standards (e.g., ISO, ISA, DIN, PIP).
  • Familiarity with yield estimates development, phases of FEL studies, and FEED studies.
  • Work experience with the detailed design, development, and down-selection of equipment.
  • Work experience with process economics.
  • A strong knowledge and commitment to personal and process safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree or PhD in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) credentials.
  • Work experience as a process engineer in a technology development or EPC company.
  • Operational experience of large-scale production plants.
