About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Design Engineer to join our team at NBCUniversal. As a key member of our design organization, you will be responsible for building prototypes that explore new features and experiences for our Peacock app across all platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with designers, product managers, and user researchers to build prototypes that aid in design exploration, usability research, and stakeholder buy-in
  • Build tools and plugins that make the design process better, easier, and faster
  • Improve on initial design concepts through the prototyping process
  • Build and maintain shared toolkits and codebases that make prototyping easier and faster
  • Build and access APIs that pull live data into prototypes
  • Stay on top of industry trends and emerging technologies, adopting them for use as needed
  • Look for ways to improve our prototyping processes and capabilities
  • Take lead on projects and start new frameworks, toolkits, and codebases from scratch
  • Mentor other members of the team, helping them level-up their skills and experience
Requirements
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • Degree in Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, Design, or equivalent practical experience
  • Portfolio of relevant work and code samples showing highly polished final executions and proficiency in software development
  • Expert-level experience with HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript
  • Expert-level experience with some or all of the following: React, React Native, Swift, Swift UI
  • Expert-level experience with design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Expert-level experience performing software development in a team environment
  • Very strong written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Very Strong experience building and/or consuming APIs
  • Very Strong experience working cross-functionally with product designers, engineers, product managers, and user-researchers
  • Very Strong experience working autonomously on projects
  • Strong understanding of interaction and user experience design best practices and workflows
  • Strong experience presenting and demoing to your immediate team, cross-functional leadership, and larger audiences
  • Strong experience with web and cloud infrastructure
  • Experience developing plug-ins for Figma and using the Figma API
  • Experience developing for international audiences
  • Experience developing with video content
  • Experience with other modern languages and frameworks, TypeScript, LightningJS, etc.
  • Experience with a variety of relevant platforms and tools such as Apache on Ubuntu, AWS, Azure, Cloudflare, Contentful, GitHub, GraphQL, Vercel, and Xcode
  • Experience using Generative AI tools such as the Open AI suite of products
Nice-to-Have
  • Experience with video streaming and tv-based platforms
  • Experience developing mobile-based apps
