Job Description

SUMMARY:

The 3rd Shift Automation Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting and maintaining the production line. This position involves diagnosing, modifying, and developing ladder logic within Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). The engineer will also implement electrical and pneumatic systems to meet evolving requirements and provide support for an existing Manufacturing Execution System (MES) in a production setting.

ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • New Processes:
    • Comprehend MIOSHA regulations and establish a control system that adheres to these standards.
    • Interpret Electrical and Pneumatic schematics effectively.
    • Develop, assess, and adjust ladder logic as necessary to fulfill new client specifications.
    • Specify and procure electrical and pneumatic components.
    • Facilitate MES integration with PLC and SAP systems for efficient data collection and reporting.
  • Existing Processes:
    • Diagnose and resolve control system issues on the production line.
    • Address MES software challenges within the manufacturing environment.
    • Engage in a Cross-Functional Team that includes production, maintenance, manufacturing/quality engineering, and logistics to drive continuous improvement initiatives on the production line.

REQUIRED / DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Must be able to work 3rd Shift.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in troubleshooting and maintaining PLC systems.
  • Familiarity with MES technologies, including automated data collection, Quality, and O.E.E. metrics in the manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of common U.S. and International Electrical Codes.
  • Knowledge of safety circuits, both hard and soft.
  • Capability to work with both Manufacturing and Testing Systems.
  • Proficient in control cabinet setup and wiring.
  • Experienced with pneumatic systems and circuits.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
