Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Direct Support Staff to join our team at The Salvation Army Eastern Territory. As a Direct Support Staff, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and independence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe and clean living environment for individuals, including maintaining a clean and organized space, and ensuring the proper disposal of waste.
  • Assist individuals with daily living tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as needed.
  • Prepare and serve meals, and assist with feeding as necessary.
  • Assist individuals with medication administration, as assigned and in compliance with management, medical, and nursing policies and procedures.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment meetings and regularly scheduled individual reviews, as required.
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans, in collaboration with the Program Manager and other team members.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to individuals, promoting their independence and self-advocacy skills.
  • Assist with transportation of individuals to and from programs, community inclusion activities, medical appointments, and other activities as needed.
  • Complete and maintain accurate and timely records and reports, as required.
Requirements
  • H.S. Diploma or GED required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals, families, and team members.
  • Ability to learn and use computer systems, with a willingness to adapt to new technologies.
  • AMAP Certification, SCIP R, and CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is required, with the ability to drive a large vehicle, such as a wheelchair van.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team setting, with a strong commitment to providing high-quality care and support to individuals with disabilities.
