Job Title: Mortgage Servicing Collections Specialist

Sunflower Bank is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mortgage Servicing Collections Specialist to join our team in Plano, TX. As a key member of our mortgage servicing team, you will be responsible for assisting Guardian Mortgage clients who are behind on payments to avoid or overcome delinquency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet performance expectations for collection efforts for assigned accounts based upon individual goals and objectives
  • Place or receive calls in priority per calling queues
  • Determine cause of delinquency and best course of action to assist delinquent customer, including initiating extensions, forbearance and repayment plans, and referrals to Loss Mitigation
  • Document all collection efforts for each assigned account in accordance with established procedures
  • Ensure that all delinquent accounts and assigned queues have been thoroughly worked according to standardized collection procedures
  • Ensure that appropriate letters are sent to debtors
  • Process account maintenance transactions according to established guidelines
  • Perform the job in accordance with applicable industry laws and regulations as well as the policies and procedures established by the company
  • Responsible for upholding Fair and Responsible Banking practices and Code of Ethics and Conduct guidelines
  • Understand and participate in the Bank's Community Reinvestment Act program
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in mortgage collections/servicing
  • Collection system experience with building/maintaining calling queues, workflows, and tasks
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word experience recommended and preferred for report summaries or ad-hoc requests
  • Ability to create professional correspondence
  • Ability to coordinate a variety of assignments simultaneously and prioritize work assignments for self and staff
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems
  • Proven effective written and verbal communication skills
  • MSP/Black Knight experience, preferred
  • Loss Mitigation experience, preferred
  • Knowledgeable with Fannie, Freddie, FHA and VA servicing guidelines
  • Evaluates and helps determine the borrower's ability to pay, and collects appropriate financial information in a courteous and professional manner, striving for first-call resolution and in compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Counsels borrowers on their options through education of alternative solutions
  • First and second mortgage lien experience
