Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Bakery Operations Specialist to join our team at Northgate Markets. As a key member of our bakery department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our bakery production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in receiving and unloading merchandise, verifying vendor invoices and checking products for quality, count, and condition.
  • Prepare dough and scratch baking mixtures according to established company procedures and recipes.
  • Operate mixers, sheeters, and other equipment to produce high-quality baked goods.
  • Assist in ordering and maintaining inventory control of ingredients and supplies.
  • Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy.
  • Monitor product sales to ensure optimal production levels and minimize waste.
  • Maintain general housekeeping and sanitation standards, adhering to all local and state health regulations.
  • Check refrigeration equipment for proper performance and report any maintenance issues.
  • Assist in training new associates and co-workers as needed.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Requirements and Conditions:

  • High school education preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum one year experience in full bakery operations and procedures, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Health department training required.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, verify vendor invoice charges, and complete accounting reports.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English effectively.
  • Ability to pass a standard drug test and qualify as being drug-free under the legal and medical guidelines permitted by the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988.

Physical Demands and Work Conditions:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
  • Occasionally exert or lift up to 70 pounds carrying bulk containers of flour, sugar, lard, and other materials.
  • Successful performance requires specific vision abilities, including close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to climb a ladder to retrieve inaccessible items from overhead or elevated storage shelves and racks.
  • Ability to perform routine cleaning and maintenance duties, including lifting of both heavy and light amounts of weight.
  • Ability to work with bakery ingredients and spices, including finely powdered substances, meat products, and produce, without suffering adverse allergic consequences.
