Job Summary

The successful candidate will lead a sponsored research program in experimental nuclear science, focusing on high-precision measurements of nuclear ground-state properties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead a research program in experimental nuclear science, with a focus on high-precision measurements of nuclear ground-state properties.
  • Collaborate with national and international teams to design and conduct experiments at FRIB.
  • Teach and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a focus on evidence-based physics instruction.
  • Engage in institutional and science community service, with a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Requirements
  • Hold a doctoral degree in nuclear physics, atomic physics, nuclear chemistry, or a related field.
  • Have at least seven years of relevant experience past doctoral degree.
  • Have a strong recognized scientific record of research in experimental nuclear science and related technical developments.
  • Have demonstrated leadership in low-energy nuclear science in planning and conducting experiments, including building national and international collaborations.
  • Have expertise in high-precision measurements of nuclear ground-state properties.
  • Have expertise in low-energy rare isotope beam production or manipulation in support of precision experiments with stopped and reaccelerated beams.
  • Have evidence of ability to attract external research funding.
  • Exhibit a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and have the ability to work in diverse teams.
  • Exhibit promise to be an effective classroom instructor.
Desired Qualifications
  • Have a demonstrated record to lead a sponsored research program on high-precision measurements of nuclear ground-state properties.
