Position Overview

FPA is currently seeking a full-time Bridge Project Engineer. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience and be ready to challenge themselves professionally on a variety of transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop design plans for various transportation improvement projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation Software.
  • Prepare design reports and calculations for bridge design tasks.
  • Create construction cost estimates and project-specific specifications.
  • Coordinate with relevant regulatory agencies and utilities.
  • Complete assignments independently with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate with team members within the transportation group and across other disciplines on larger projects.
  • Delegate tasks to junior engineers and oversee their work.
  • Assist the Project Manager in developing and monitoring project schedules, budgets, and staffing needs.
  • Engage in client communication and contact.
  • Support management in proposals and business development as needed.
  • Conduct construction inspections of contractor work.
  • Interpret construction plans and specifications effectively.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in transportation engineering.
  • EIT certification required; PE (or ability to obtain within one year) preferred.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation design software.
  • Familiarity with NJDOT / AASHTO / NJTA design standards and guidelines.
  • Highly motivated and eager to work on a diverse range of transportation improvement projects for local, county, and state agencies.
  • Willingness to represent FPA at professional societies and technical seminars.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in designing transportation improvement projects in New Jersey.
  • Valid driver's license.
